We’re very proud to officially introduce Asenea, the new mobile app developed by the team here at Aaron’s Department.
Asenea is something we’ve been working on behind the scenes for some time. The idea behind it is simple: one app that can connect users to services from different organisations, without every organisation needing to develop and maintain its own standalone mobile application.
For us, its launch represents much more than releasing another piece of software. It gives us a new foundation on which we can build mobile functionality for the platforms we develop and the organisations we work with.
What is Asenea?
Asenea is a mobile application developed entirely by Aaron’s Department.
Users download one central app and sign in using the credentials provided by the organisation whose services they want to access.
What they see within Asenea depends on the organisation they are connected to and the services available to them.
For example, a driver working for a transport company could log in and see Vehicle Walkaround Checks that they need to complete before starting their journey. They could carry out the check, report a defect and upload photographic evidence, all from their phone.
But Asenea isn’t limited to transport. A care organisation could use the same app to give employees access to a rota, while another business could use it for internal forms, inspections or other processes that need to be completed away from a computer.
The user doesn’t need a different app for each of these services. Asenea provides the mobile platform, while the organisation determines the services and functionality its users can access.
This means Asenea can support very different organisations and purposes through the same mobile platform.
Rather than developing an entirely new iOS and Android app whenever mobile functionality is required, we now have a platform that can be integrated with different systems and developed further as requirements evolve.
Already Being Used by TachoMagic
One of the first examples of Asenea being used in the real world is through TachoMagic.
TachoMagic provides tachograph and fleet management software to transport operators, including digital Vehicle Walkaround Checks.
Drivers need to complete these checks while they are actually standing beside their vehicle, so it was an ideal example of functionality that needed to work properly on a mobile device.
Using Asenea, TachoMagic drivers can access their Vehicle Walkaround Checks from their phone, work through the inspection and report any defects they discover.
Depending on how the check has been configured, drivers can also be asked additional questions and provide photographic or video evidence of a defect.
The information is then connected with TachoMagic, where the operator can manage its Vehicle Walkaround Check records.
It means the driver’s experience can remain simple, while considerably more is happening within the software behind the scenes.

One App With Plenty of Possibilities
TachoMagic’s Vehicle Walkaround Checks are just one example of what Asenea can be used for.
The important part of Asenea isn’t one particular feature. It is the platform we’ve built underneath it.
Because we developed Asenea in-house, we can continue expanding its capabilities and exploring integrations with other systems.
An organisation may have an existing web platform but want to make a particular service available from a mobile phone. Another may have a process currently completed through paperwork or a web browser that would work much better through an app.
Rather than starting from scratch every time, Asenea gives us an existing mobile platform on which those ideas can be developed.
Developed Entirely by Aaron’s Department
One of the things we’re particularly proud of is that Asenea has been developed by our own team at Aaron’s Department.
From the systems behind the app to the way it connects with other software, development has been handled in-house.
That’s important to us.
It gives us control over the technology we’re building, allows our developers to work directly on integrations and means we’re not dependent on an off-the-shelf application that dictates what we can and cannot do.
More importantly, Asenea has been built with its future in mind.
What we’re launching today gives us a foundation that can continue growing as new organisations, services and ideas are introduced.
Could Your Software Use Asenea?
Although we’re incredibly proud to see Asenea being used already, we’re even more excited about what comes next.
We’re interested in speaking to organisations that have an existing system, service or process they would like to make accessible through a mobile app.
You might want customers to interact with your services from their phones. You might have employees working away from the office who need access to specific functionality. Or you may have an existing software platform that would benefit from a mobile integration without wanting to develop an entirely new app from scratch.
If you have an idea, we’d like to hear about it.
Our development team can look at your existing system, what you want users to be able to do and whether an Asenea integration could provide the right solution.
We’re Just Getting Started
Launching Asenea is a milestone we’re genuinely proud of.
A lot of work has gone into getting the app to this point, and seeing organisations such as TachoMagic already using it for real-world services like Vehicle Walkaround Checks makes that work particularly rewarding.
Asenea gives Aaron’s Department a new platform to build on, new opportunities for the organisations we work with and, most importantly, another way for us to turn ideas into software that people can actually use.
You can learn more about Asenea or contact Aaron’s Department if you’d like to discuss integrating your organisation or software with the app.
