Can A Bank Statement Be Used For DBS Checks If It’s A PDF?
Unfortunately not; despite us living in the digital age, digital versions of documents (such as bank statements) cannot be accepted as evidence.
A physical paper statement, issued by the bank (so not a print-out of the digital PDF!) must be used instead.
These can be acquired at a branch, or requested online. For online-only banks such as Monzo, there are ways to have an acceptable paper statement sent in the post, but naturally this process is different from bank to bank.
Can A Bank Statement Be Used For DBS Checks If I’ve Changed Name?
Bank Statements can only be accepted as evidence for your DBS check if they are issued in your current legal name.
If you’ve changed names (for example though deed poll or marriage), then you’ll have to request a new statement or use a different document as evidence.

One of the things the DBS uses bank statements as evidence for is the applicant’s current address – so the bank statement needs to be in your current address!
If you’ve changed addresses, then you’ll need to request a new bank statement, or use another document as evidence.
