The other week, we posted some feedback left by one of our Summer interns, and here’s some more!
Aleksandra has been helping our software development team in Skopje, improving the user experience, and boosting her personal experience with technologies such as PHP, JavaScript, MariaDB, Laravel, Vue, and others.
Over the course of the internship, we’ve made good progress on a number of projects, and we’re happy to have had Aleksandra on the team. Thanks!
What follows is Aleksandra’s (very kind) responses to our internship feedback questionnaire:
1. How was your internship experience? Was it easy to settle in and get started?
I have thoroughly enjoyed this whole experience from the first day. I was pleasantly surprised by how easy and effortless it was to settle in and start working. It wouldn’t have been possible if it weren’t for the company’s amazing work culture and my amazing co-workers.
2. What did you enjoy about it? And why?
I truly enjoyed every single moment from this experience, as it was an amazing opportunity for my career development. However, what I loved most and will always remember was how nice and welcoming everyone was. I truly felt like I was a part of the team.
3. Did you learn any new skills? If so, what?
I learnt plenty during the whole internship and I really believe everything I learnt will be of great help to advancing my career and improving my skills in the future. What I appreciate and enjoyed learning most was relational databases. Having no knowledge before starting the internship, I was able to get the hang of it quickly with the help of the seniors.
4. What new challenges did you experience whilst doing the internship?
I faced plenty of new challenges as it was my first time building a whole application from scratch. You never know when a bug might occur, but hopefully we were able to solve each and every one of them, thanks to our efforts and team-work.
5. Was there anything that you didn’t like about the internship? If so, what?
There wasn’t anything I didn’t like about the internship. I appreciate the experience and the opportunities I was presented with.
6. Before you started the internship, what did you expect from it?
I expected to learn a lot and get familiar with many technologies I hadn’t used before and also get to meet new, friendly people. However, what I didn’t expect was how great of a time I would have and how much I will really learn and advance in such a short period of time.
7. Was there anything that happened that you didn’t expect to happen? How did you feel about it?
What I didn’t expect to happen was how great of a team us the interns will be and how well we functioned together. As each day passed, we grew closer and closer as a team which resulted in us being much more productive and making our product better and better. Obviously, I was ecstatic about this, and also very, very proud.
8. Do you feel like you have benefitted from doing this internship?
I have benefited greatly from the internship, starting from developing and improving my soft skills to truly understanding how a real system and real applications work, and what it’s really like in the coding world. I also learnt about many new technologies which will be of great help in my future pursuits.
9. After doing the internship, are you still interested in following this kind of career?
After the internship, my love and interest for my career only grew and multiplied and I can’t wait for every new challenge I will be faced with following this field.
10. As a company, what do you think we do well at?
As a company, you are great at team-work, work culture and working together as a team. Also, I am deeply appreciative of the work conditions at your company.
11. As a company, what do you think we could improve on?
There isn’t anything I don’t like about the company in particular.
12. Would you recommend the internship to others?
I would most definitely recommend this internship to every young adult in pursuit of a career in the IT world. This truly is a great opportunity and I would do it again without a doubt. I will definitely be suggesting Aaron’s Department as a great opportunity for advancement to my friends.
