Only Basic DBS Certificates can be downloaded online. Standard and Enhanced customers can only see a summary of the information on the certificate, showing whether or not any information has been disclosed.

Can I Download My DBS Certificate Online?
Once your Basic DBS certificate has been issued, you’ll receive an email from the DBS with a link to the online portal where you can download your certificate.
You’ll need to create an account on the government portal if you haven’t already done so. Once you’re logged in, you should be able to see your certificate and download it as a PDF file.
Can Employers Download Their Employee’s Certificates Online?
Employers cannot view or download their employee’s certificates online, nor can the Umbrella Body that has processed the application – only the individual the check belongs to has access. With the applicant’s permission, a copy of the certificate can be made and stored by the employer.
Ultimately, it’s the applicant’s decision whether they share their DBS certificate, and with whom they share it. This is intended to protect their right to privacy, under the Rehabilitation of Offenders Act. Of course, if an employee is refusing to show you their DBS certificate, you’re within your rights to take further action, at your discretion.

Only Basic DBS applicants can download their certificate online. Standard and Enhanced applicants can only view their results on the certificate, once it arrives. This distinction is due to the laws and regulations surrounding the level of disclosure each type of check offers.
Employers and Umbrella Bodies cannot access or download their employees’ certificates online. Basic DBS applicants can opt to share access to their online certificate with any party of their choosing, but it’s their decision to make.
